50 postcards from 50 states - a collection from travels across the USA

This is proof - they really did it! Two friends of mine, Charles and Shirlynn Beason, travelled to all 50 states. And along the way, they picked up postcards! Shirlynn designed this display to showcase their collection. It is much more than a group of 50 postcards. Each card was selected for a reason - a true representation of their experiences. Many of the cards are special because they were mailed to relatives and returned to the Beasons. A closer look reveals that some of the postcards are vintage and have a background story of their own. Others are new with the latest photographic designs. But they all have a connection to an experience. My favorite is the postcard from Wyoming. The image is a photo that was taken in the 1940's by Finis Mitchell, the owner of Mitchell's Fishing Camp. He was a friend of Charles' mother and stepfather. During the Depression, Finis Mitchell and his wife took on the task of stocking 300 lakes in Wild River Range with over 2.5 million trout! Some postcards reflect change. The Old Man of the Mountain pictured on the New Hampshire postcard has a different profile now due to a rock collapse in 2003 that damaged the face of the mountain. The vintage Utah postcard is from a childhood family trip in 1951. I loved hearing about each place they visited. Looking at the Beason's postcard collection is like reading an adventure story. It is an inspiration to others and a wonderful way to share experiences with future generations. Thank you, Shirlynn and Charles, for sharing it with me and Postcard Hangout!
