#50 Postcard Trivia 4.16.19
Happy Easter from three cute chicks! This is a Real Photo Postcard produced at the Rotograph Company in New York City in 1908 and printed in England. How do you get three chicks to hold still while harnessed to a wagon full of eggs? That would have been an interesting photo shoot. The back of the postcard is postmarked from San Francisco, California, on April 6, 1909. See image below. It was sent to a Mr. Joe Hepler, care of Sanger Brothers in Waco, Texas, with a message of Easter Greetings from Louise J. Palmer. Sanger Brothers Department Store opened in downtown Waco in 1873. It was a great success and served the area for over 50 years, closing in 1931. Apparently, Mr. Hepler was an employee of the store when he received this postcard in 1909. We can only wonder if Louise ever got to visit Mr. Hepler at Sanger Brothers - maybe she was invited for a shopping trip to purchase a new hat for Easter!
