#51 Postcard Trivia 4.30.19
It’s springtime in Texas! This postcard highlights three things I love - bluebonnets, Blue Bell ice cream, and Texas! It reminds me of Washington County, a beautiful area of Texas bursting with wildflowers and Texas history. The city of Brenham is the county seat and also the home of Blue Bell Creameries which has been making and delivering ice cream since 1930. Touring the creamery is a must when visiting the area. On the east side of the county is Washington-on-the-Brazos, the site where Texas declared independence from Mexico in 1836. The star-shaped building nearby is the The Star of the Republic Museum. The fascinating exhibits tell the story of the ten-year period that Texas was an independent republic. And if you are fortunate enough to travel to Washington County during April or early May, you will no doubt enjoy the spectacular views of wildflowers including the state flower, the bluebonnet. “Texas! Our Texas! All hail the mighty state…”
