#4 Postcard Trivia 11.28.17

B. The architect said the hotel reminded him of the 1942 movie, Holiday Inn, starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire.  Postcard published by W.L. Boswell, Nashville, TN  From the collection of J Garner

Recognize this sign? A stay at a Holiday Inn was a must on our family vacations. My sister and I loved exploring the hotel - we always hoped there would be a slide at the pool! This postcard is from Laramie, Wyoming in 1967- right before the 1000th Holiday Inn was built. The first was built in Memphis in 1952. Soon the hotel was "Your Host from Coast to Coast." Holiday Inn boasted that it had a phone, radio, and TV in each room and, best of all, air conditioning!
